Amazing quotes

Last night I revisited one of my favorite movies, Amazing Grace. There were just so many good quotes, I have to put some of them here...

John Newton: Although my memory's fading, I remember two things very clearly: I'm a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.

Thomas Clarkson [To the baby in his arms]: "Strange treasures in this fair world appear, strange all, and new to me." That is a poem by Thomas Traherne, and I have absolutely no idea what it's about. But, when I was small I was made to learn it by heart so I don't see why you shouldn't suffer too.

Pitt: ...We're too young to realize certain things are impossible--which is why we do them anyways.

Richard the butler: He's an optimist. Bloody incurable.

(And my favorite:)

Wilberforce: It's God. I have 10,000 engagements of state today but I would prefer to spend the day out here getting a wet arse, studying dandelions and marveling at... bloody spider's webs...
Richard the butler: You found God, sir?
Wilberforce: I think He found me... Do you have any idea how inconvenient that is?! ...In my heart I want spider's webs.

Chelsey! It's Kirsten! I gave in to peer pressure and abandoned my Xanga for a blog on here! :) Hopefully, I'll actually write on this one.
Ah! I love Amazing Grace! Such an excellent movie. I have my own list of favorite quotes from it, and I think all the ones you posted are on it. The spider's webs are my most favorite, too. :) The one about the random poem Clarkson memorized always makes me smile. It's such a quotable movie--a rare find these days. Not to mention the plot is AMAZING! :) Such a blessing.

That movie is SO incredible. (I was about to say "amazing" but, thankfully, I stopped myself) So meaningful, intense, well-acted, well-written, well-directed and HILARIOUS. They showed it here at GCC and offered a chapel credit, and everyone laughed at ALL the priceless lines and facial expressions.

I think my favorite quote is the speech Fox gives at the end. It makes me swell inside every time I hear it.

Chelsey,
What can I say about the movie that you haven't already said, except for a lot of things I don't feel like discussing. That is an awesome and powerful movie that has inspired me to also be willing to stand for my convictions, despite the opposition. Another good point is learning how to get others who oppose you to join you in a cause to help the helpless. I believe that every person is called to help others, but only a few are willing to take the challenge. Are you willing to be that bold?
